3rd Annual Mother's Appreciation Day

ChiGivesBack, Inc. is partnering with the Chicago Police Departments 15th District to distribute roses, chocolates, pampering gifts and other resources to nearly 200 mothers on the Westside of Chicago along three blocks. This event is being held in conjunction with other non-profits, Chicago Public Schools and faith based organizations. We are especially pleased to work alongside Mother’s On A Mission, a group dedicated to serving families who have lost loved ones to gun violence. ChiGivesBack Advisory Board - Application

ChiGivesBack, Inc. seeks to broaden the reach of our volunteer leadership network by engaging talented professionals and promoting the growth and development of the next generation of philanthropic leaders.

We invite community leaders to submit a self-nomination to join our Advisory Board, which is a volunteer arm of committees that manage CGB events, programs and initiatives. As a member of our Advisory Board, you will have the opportunity to play a role in CGB success from start to finish. The Advisory Board is an integral part of CGB ability to thrive and serve low-income families.

Membership Expectations

  • Participate in a event/program committee (Chicagoland Toy Drive, #Teach2Give, Friendsgiving, MLK Jr. Day of Service and other CGB events and volunteer opportunities, etc.)

  • Promote select CGB events/programs

Financial Commitment

  • Secure auction items, sponsorships, or ticket sales for select CGB events

Membership Expectations

  • Attend at least three Board or CGB events each year (Chicagoland Toy Drive, #Teach2Give, Friendsgiving, MLK Jr. Day of Service and other CGB events and volunteer opportunities, etc.)

  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings

  • Actively serve on select CGB event committees

Financial Commitment

  • Write or raise $500.00 per year for CGB events

  • Secure auction items, sponsorships, or ticket sales for select CGB events

Labor of Love: Free Hair Cuts & Book Bags

Every year, ChiGivesBack hosts Labor of Love where we provide free haircuts and school supplies to Chicago Public School students as they prepare to return to school. By partnering with local Barbershops located on the South and West Sides of the city, Labor of Love helps to ensure that students are prepared to return to school the following Monday. Labor of Love is part of our #Teach2Give initiative, supporting Chicago Public School teachers and students.

ChiGivesBack Walking in the Bud Billiken Parade

VOLUNTEER SIGN UP HAS CLOSED!

ChiGivesBack, Inc. will be walking in the Bud Billiken Parade this year with a Special Guest!!! We are super excited about this. We will be also distributing book bags filled with school supplies along the parade route — we need your help!

Bring your walking shoes and join us for this two mile journey. Keep in mind that the parade will be stop and go walking throughout the entire route. We will be at the start of the parade, so we should finish earlier than the 4PM advertise parade ending. The parade step off is at 10AM sharp.

VOLUNTEER: Santa Run Community 5K & Toy Drive

Please join us for a safe day of volunteering for the upcoming 5K Santa Community Run and Toy Drive. We have partnered with the Chicago Police Department and other local organizations to run and raise toys in the Austin community. We will be following all guidelines expressed by IDPH and health professionals. This event will take place outdoors and will not require close contact of event participants. ***Masks are required for volunteer service.

Volunteer: 3rd Annual Chicagoland Toy Drive

The Chicagoland Toy Drive is subsidiary project of ChiGivesBack, Inc. that was designed to collect toys for low-income and homeless children living in the Chicago area. In the previous years that we have hosted this event, our team has provided nearly 8,000 toys to children who might not have received gifts during the holiday season – in addition to generating over 3,000 volunteer hours to support toy drive operations.

Volunteer: 2nd Annual Friendsgiving Dinner

ChiGivesBack is hosting our 2nd Annual Friendsgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 5pm. at the Washburne Culinary Art Institute on November 21st. Last year, we were able to feed over 200 people in the Englewood community. Here is a link to the video highlighting last years event.

ChiGivesBack, Inc. will be giving away a Lyon & Healy upright piano that has been around for 50+ years and is in excellent condition. The piano is under 40" in height and comes with the original bench. We will cover delivery costs and the costs for the piano to be freshly tuned.
